Florham Park, N.J., December 10, 2018 — Motorists are getting the gift of lower prices at the pump as the price of gas continues to fall. Today’s average price for a gallon of regular gas in New Jersey is $2.47, down five cents from last week ($2.52). Today’s average price is 23 cents cheaper than last month ($2.70) and four cents cheaper than a year ago ($2.51).

AAA Northeast’s December 10th survey of fuel prices found the current national average to be $2.42, down three cents from last week ($2.45). Today’s national average price is 28 cents cheaper than a month ago ($2.70) and four cents cheaper than on December 10, 2017 ($2.46).

“With many motorists planning holiday road trips, the drop in pump prices couldn’t come at a better time,” said Robert Sinclair Jr., Manager of Media Relations for AAA Northeast. “In every state, gas prices have dropped by double digits month over month, and AAA expects the national gas prices average to dip as low as $2.40 by year’s end due to cheaper crude oil prices.”

Gas prices continue to drop around the region, falling by as much as a nickel in surrounding states. The average price of gas in Connecticut is $2.73, down four cents from last week ($2.77). In New York, motorists are paying an average of $2.74, three cents cheaper than last week ($2.77). Pennsylvania saw the largest decline, with prices falling five cents to today’s average of $2.64 ($2.69).
